Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September 1983) is an American actress who is best well-known for her role as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC TV series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. The couple had separated and she moved with her mom into Los Angeles. However, in 2001, despite difficulties with money it was possible to secure her first big performance in the video online show Rachel's Room as the lead character. The TV film Murder in Greenwich, in which she played 15-years-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination for a Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford was the character Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons in 2004, and was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award (with all the other actors) along with her. Grace was dropped from the series in 2005 to focus on an even more prominent role in films, having appeared in the film Taken alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in the film Taken. She starred as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken in 2008) in Suburban Girl as well as the Jane Austen Book Club. She reprised the role for Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the leading role in Alice on Malice in Wonderland a modern take on Lewis Carroll's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace was back on the Lost series in the final two episodes as Shannon. She appeared in 2013's seventh season Californication. She portrays Faith as a female groupie as well as a model for stars. Being part of the Gyllenhaal family, she's the daughter and older sister to the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. She started her acting career when she was a teenager, playing small roles in several of the films of her father and starred alongside her brother in the cult favorite Donnie Darko (2001). Later, she was as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal won critical praise in both of her roles as the main character in Secretary (2002), which is an erotic romantic drama as well as Sherrybaby (2006). The actress was also nominated by the Golden Globe Award. The actress gained more attention after playing Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008), thanks to several successful commercial films that she was a part of in the year 2006. Nominated for an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Rachel Dawes in Crazy Heart, (2009). Following that she appeared in comedy as well as dramatic movies: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012. Other roles she has played includes Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 Action thriller) as well as actors in Frank (2014 Drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018), and the role of the kindergarten teacher. Gyllenhaal wrote and directed her first film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The psychological drama won Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The film was also nominated for The Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
